Have I killed my laptop?

Hum I think I might have posted in the wrong spot so..... I think I just killed my lappy I cleaned it all up even tried a a better i5 in in but power on and the opto clunks clunks and the fan runs slow for a bit then races up to fast then stops altogether. So thinking it might be just the new core being a dud stuck the original one back in - same result so don't know where to start even...
