I've been having a bit of trouble with my new machine as of late, put it together not too long ago and have yet to pin down this problem. It has been rather flaky on starting up, usually hanging on the splash screen. I thought I had solved it several times, and I was mostly focusing on possible bad or missing drivers, but didn't have a whole lot to go on as I was never getting any...
